Evgeny Leonov
Founder & Chair
Evgeny Leonov is the founder and Chair of the Baltic Association for Folklore and Esoteric Studies (BAFES). His interests include Baltic folklore, vernacular belief, pre-Christian religious traditions, folk magic, symbolism and the historical development of esoteric ideas in the Baltic region. He is particularly interested in source-critical approaches to subjects that exist between historical evidence, cultural memory and modern reconstruction. Through BAFES, he is developing independent research projects, digital research resources and publications intended to document and examine these traditions in their historical and cultural contexts.
